Have you ever been a victim of computer service rip offs?
• Is your company overcharged for time?
• Is your company overcharged for the dollar promised?
• Have you ever been sent the wrong person for the job?
• Do they have the skill sets to solve the problem?
• What are their credentials?
• Are they insured with liability insurance?

Ask up front what they charge per hour:
• Ask how much they charge per hour and if they have a minimum time charge.
• Find out if there are higher rates for evenings, weekends, and holidays, these costs can sneak up on you if you don’t plan for them and they can eat up your IT budget.

Do they charge a flat rate?
• Some really small companies, usually individuals charge a flat rate.
• These options can sometime consume your time depending on the technician.

Do they charge a trip time?
• Some companies started charging for when the price of gas went up. What they are not doing is reducing the price once the price of gas came down.
• Other computer companies charge for their time when they leave their office. In other words, if your office is downtown and the computer repair’s office is in Baytown, your company is charged for the time to drive to downtown from Baytown at an hourly rate.

What are billing increments and rates?
• Do they charge by the hour?
• Do they have a minimum charge?

Do they offer remote control assistance?
• This can be important because if you are far away, the problem can be solved faster and less expensive if remote control assistance is offered.

Get a detailed billing statement:
• Some companies will send you a bill that only has “LABOR” with a total amount charged. It won’t have any information about what work was performed or anything. This is confusing and takes up too much of your valuable time.
