Time should be viewed as an invaluable resource or asset as a business owner. Effective use of your time will improve your effectiveness and profitability. Like most acquired habits it takes commitment and practice so let’s discuss some easy steps to improve your time management.
• Keep track of your daily activities. Take an objective view each day for two weeks of how you spend your day.
• An ideal daily routine is to have a daily objective(s). This is how you’d like your day to unfold, however flexibility is key. As you close your day review it and check off what you’ve accomplished and whether the most important goals were achieved.
• Keep track of the dreaded “interrupts”. Business owners (including myself) are constantly hit by crisis (perceived or real) and pull you off the ideal day you’ve mapped out.
• Always build time into your schedule for yourself. I call it quiet time. Shut the door, go for a walk, just turn it off for a bit and recharge.
Get in the habit of scheduling time to schedule our time.
