Tony Elam is the Principal for Elam Consulting, offering services in project management, business development and systems engineering, which includes independent review and assessments of new technologies, technology oriented projects and new business/research opportunities. Also included in his portfolio of expertise is exploration and use of gaming-related technologies for education, training and business applications. Previously, Tony served as Executive Director for Strategic Initiatives at Baylor College of Medicine, Associate Dean of Engineering at Rice University, and Senior Engineer/Program Manager with the IBM Corporation. Tony is the founder and chair of the Houston Serious Games Research Consortia which has over 130 individual members from dozens of educational institutions and local companies. He is well-known for his interest in serious games, the use of gaming technologies for education, training, and business applications such as decision support systems. He has extensive expertise in non-computer gaming history, game design and mechanics, and has one of the largest game collections in the United States.
